Ever wondered what’s the hype about?
Why companies spend thousands, sometimes even millions for logo, branding and display?
We’ve all been there!
Leave all the techie stuff, let’s start simple…
What highlights the Apple iPhone from dozens of other cellular devices? [simplistic]
What is the utility of the famous golden arches of McDonald’s despite the criticism of its food & business? [easy to track i guess]
What does Ferrari say about cars that Ford just doesn’t? [speed!!! maybe]
Why does Pitbull appear different from other music performers? [a self-proclaimed rapper that suits up]
Organizations & individuals alike have understood it’s not just about doing unique work but also about unique importance. An appearance that is consistent, conforming, and appealing. One that instantly triggers the name of the brand. It hardly takes us a second to come up with “Nike” when we see the “swoosh”.
It’s about telling your story [without words]
You may not be a consumer/customer but each time you are exposed to the brand, you are reminded that this company has a product which you may need [want] one fine day; so that you know where to go on that day.
People, in a way, record each experience/interaction with a company and add it to their perception of the company, to its name; its logo. This perception may be positive for a brand like Sony or negative for a failing brand like Blackberry. To wash over this perception or dissociate themselves from previously hold notions; companies choose to rebrand their identity.
This is what it boils down to..
So we as consumers must enjoy when marketers spend thousands for our attention, to flatter us. Coz, let’s face it, everybody loves attention!!
